Almost every home from Rhome to Keller sits on a concrete slab, with water lines running underneath. When one of those lines leaks, you usually will not see water. You will see other clues.
Warning signs
- A water bill that jumps with no change in how you use water.
- A warm spot on the floor, often from a hot water line.
- The sound of running water when everything is turned off.
- Cracks in tile or flooring, or damp carpet with no clear source.
- Low water pressure throughout the house.
A simple test you can do
Turn off every faucet, appliance and sprinkler. Go to your water meter and watch the small leak indicator, often a little triangle or dial. If it is moving, water is going somewhere.
Why our soil makes it worse
North Texas clay moves with the seasons. That movement rubs pipes against the concrete and stresses joints, which is why slab leaks are so common here.
How we find it
We use acoustic listening equipment and thermal cameras to pinpoint the leak, so we open one small spot instead of breaking up your floor in several places. Then we walk you through repair options, from a spot repair to rerouting the line.
